Austin’s PrideBites startup takes a bite of ‘Shark Tank’ funding
AUSTIN — An Austin business that appeared on ABC-TV’s “Shark Tank” grew from a close group of childhood friends into a burgeoning pet product retailer that hopes to clear a million dollars in sales this year, the Austin Business Journal reported.
PrideBites designs, manufacturers and sells customizable products for dogs such as clothing and collars.
The last Austin business to pitch to the sharks was Wondercide, a maker of natural pet pesticides — it received a $500,000 investment last month.
PrideBites launched its online customization marketplace in the fourth quarter of 2014. It now employs 12 people: seven in Austin and five in China, where its goods are produced.
